Everybody wants to tell the whole world of his or her existence. How you get yourself recognized could be done in the most criminal acts or just simply done through the use of art forms and symbols. Emblems have always been there to acknowledge the world of the group and its slogan's existence.

The Quest for Self-Expression

Since then, human always search for ways of self-expression. The first paintings in Lascaux Cave in France are one of the evidences of man's creativity. Not until the first printing press was created when emblems got their peak fame. Artists need not repeatedly carve symbols in wood, walls and other materials because the printing press make it possible for more than one copy to be produced at the same time. The printing press also makes emblems to be worn by all members in an organization.

Common Symbols and their Meaning

Common symbols used for emblems are those objects that depict bravery and perseverance like the fire, the sword and the lion. In most schools and universities, one may see that most of them have the fire emblem which signifies the enlightenment that education provides for each student. One can also find the flame symbol in the Olympics as this may also signify the fighting spirit athletes have.

Aside from the flame, there are also other symbols. For clans who occupy a significant status in a community, there members usually wear a clan emblem where the face of their great grandparent is carved. Symbols vary from one family to the next depending on the object or symbol that greatly epitomizes the family's greatness.

Business signature

These days, emblems are also used for commercial and business purposes. From the most common business like clothes and beverages to the most sophisticated like restaurant and real estate businesses, there are symbols that are hoped to create catchy associations among its costumers. Once the board of directors approved these symbols, nobody can pirate a private syndicate emblem.  Because sometimes, the rules of business and trade are still contestable, thus we can see these company symbols printed in other materials.

If you are entrepreneur and you want your business to create an image in the community, you might want to conceptualize your company's symbol. If you are not so artistically-inclined to make your concept came into being, you may need the assistance of other artists. Some of them can come up with wild, original designs that you might love. If you are an alumnus from an organization or a school, you might also want to suggest emblems that can reflect your group's statement.
