Team Logo

A team logo is a bright, festive, and energetic representation of a team's spirit, whether it's a sports team or an academics club. They can be seen on billboards, scoreboards, and sometimes even surfboards. Truly interesting and eye-catching designs are composed of two basic elements.

First, the mascot, the animal or figure portrayed to represent the team. It must be seen that the mascot chosen for a team generally has a relation to the team's sport. Strong, powerful animals, like bears, horses, or vicious figures like pirates or raiders will at times represent sports of heavy conflict and strength, such as football. Other animals, like birds of prey or great cats, can depict the great speed and accuracy in a sport such as baseball or hockey. Exceptions, of course, can exist in many scenarios.

The team's emblem must be simple, easy to recognize, and very quick to dedicate to memory. The head of a snarling wolf, the first letter of the team name done in a certain fashion, or even a simple star is as complicated as a team logo needs to be. The simplicity of a logo also extends to its colors, which can be seen as bold, powerful, and sometimes even flamboyant.

The second element for the icon is the team's name. The team logo, while it can work on its own in a few cases, is generally paired with the name of the team for greater effect. The type and size of the letters lends itself to the image as a whole. The name is normally the same color scheme as the image, with the letters generally in bold and in a particular style that symbolizes the power or speed of the sports team involved.

Seeing the logo for a crowd's favorite team can make them cheer and shout, stirring up their emotions and making them support their team just as much as a cheerleader could. Cheerleaders, too, take on after their teams logo, wearing in their uniforms the colors and shapes of the team's favored symbol. Also, it eases promotion of the team, advertising is as simple as displaying the logo, placing it on shirts, flags, seat cushions, patches, and jackets, the proceeds of which can go towards the teams equipment and training, garnering financial support as well as promoting the team.

Whether it is baseball, basketball, or car racing, without a simple, memorable, and exciting team logo, the team will quickly become very forgettable. It is easy to see why graphic artists can be given great paychecks for providing a team such a basic image for the world to remember them by.
